PGasia | Playing Slot Machines Led to Illegal Gambling Scheme

Engaging in a deceptive scheme, the accused individual frequented the gaming areas of local casinos, specifically Mystic Lake Casino Hotel and Treasure Island Resort & Casino.

Engaging in an operation that involved more than 100 participants, he reportedly spent time at both properties playing slot machines. His approach included consulting the participants about their preferred slot machine, which he would then proceed to operate on their behalf.

Operating covertly, Fitzgerald assumed the role of placing bets for multiple participants, as alleged by prosecutors.

Between October and December of 2022, he amassed a substantial sum of $65,103.50 in payments via Venmo and CashApp from the participants, as reported by prosecutors. In an attempt to camouflage these transactions, Fitzgerald dubbed them as ‘donations’ or ‘deposits’.

According to court documents cited in the report, the defendant collected $5.99 from each follower, granting them a ‘subscriber’ status that granted access to a private messaging group on the Discord application. Here, participants could engage in the gambling activities orchestrated by Fitzgerald until their subscription elapsed. Should they wish to extend their participation, an additional payment of $5.99 was required.

Fitzgerald would reportedly issue ‘refunds’ to participants if he couldn’t fulfill their betting requests due to time constraints. However, the investigation revealed that he pocketed over half of the total funds.

The illicit operation was even livestreamed on TikTok, with money transfers taking place during the process.

The unlawful scheme was unveiled after an individual reported their suspicions to the Minnesota Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement Division. This triggered a thorough investigation that led to charges being filed against Fitzgerald and another suspected accomplice.

The case has been handed over to prosecutors at the Scott County Court for further action.

Horseshoe Casino Parking Garage Fire Causes Vehicle Damage

A fire incident at Horseshoe Casino Hammond in Indiana resulted in a loud sound resembling an explosion and the subsequent damage to multiple vehicles on Friday.

The incident commenced when a single vehicle ignited, prompting an emergency response around 3 p.m., as reported by Indiana news outlet NWI.com.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames, causing adjacent cars to sustain damage due to the intense heat, as stated by Hammond Fire Department’s Chief Fire Inspector, Danny Misiak

Initial reports suggest that despite the booming noise, there was no actual explosion.

Joe Misiak, a witness, remarked, ‘Inside the parking garage, everything echoes and is much louder than what it would be in a normal parking lot.’

As of Friday, the cause of the fire remained undisclosed. Whether the incident resulted from arson or not remains uncertain.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with the incident.

Blaze Strikes Connecticut

On the other side of the nation in Connecticut, a similar incident occurred last October when multiple vehicles were engulfed in flames within a casino parking garage.

At Foxwoods Resort Casino, the vehicles in the parking garage endured probable damage as a result of the fire.
